APRIL'S ARTICLE - "ANTIQUE CAR INSURANCE TIPS"

Many people choose to restore, and then display their antique cars at shows; owners of these cars would never consider cutting back on their insurance coverage. Although you might think it hard to obtain, it is surprising how many companies can actually supply antique car insurance. This is obviously good for the person searching for the classic car insurance as they have an abundance of companies to choose from; this should also make it easier to find a company that provides a quotation they can easily afford.

Many commercial auto insurers now provide protection for an antique car; these plans reflect the specialized nature of this type of auto cover and are often called ‘collectors auto insurance'. A representative will take all of your information and discuss different policy options to ensure that you are obtaining the coverage you need. They will also help you decide which types of coverage are within your target budget and which deductible and limit levels you will need.

Purchasing auto cover for an antique car through a commercial insurer will give the policy holder peace of mind; many have been established for years and have a good reputation for looking after customers. If you purchase a car policy through one of these large commercial insurers then the chances are you will also be able to insure your regular car with them, sometimes on the same policy. Antique car insurance with larger companies that do not specialize in this type of policy may be more expensive but this is often worth the extra as they are well established.

Whilst cost is an issue you may find the specialist auto insurers that exist may be less expensive; the downside is you may have to use a standard auto insurer for any other car. Owners of very rare classic cars may even have difficulty insuring their car. To be on the safe side it is best to check out any insurance companies, especially the smaller ones so you can be happy in the knowledge that your premium money and antique car are not at risk.

No-one wants to find that after paying the insurance premiums for months the company will not or is unable to pay out on an insurance claim. Finding antique car insurance can be a lengthy and frustrating process; however, the benefits of having proper insurance for the car far outweighs the initial hassle of finding a provider. Any owner of an classic car will cherish the vehicle and will undoubtedly want the best policy they can afford for something that cannot be replaced if it is destroyed or stolen.
